Roman church SANTO STEFANO

The church Santo Stefano in Magazzini, is the most remarkable example of romanischen religious architecture on the island offers Elba. The building originates from the second half XII century and
presents a particularly beautiful decoration of the internal walls with rich ornamental art in the colours white and ivory (petals, eagle, horses, headings of fabulous creatures). The building points the typical fundamentals on, which one finds also with the other roman buildings of churches on the island Elba; they consist of a only one rectangular ship, which ends in a semicircle formed Apsis.
