Mining museum and mineral park of Elba Island
In the historic center of Rio Marina is located on the mining museum. The building dates back to the eighteenth century and has hosted until a few years ago the direction of the mining company of Elba Island.
The museum is a part of the Mineral Park of Elba Island and shows an important collection of Elbanian minerals with numerous samples of exceptional beauty.
It was also created an environment that recreates the workshop of blacksmiths with tools and original materials found in abandoned extraction areas. The reconstruction of the miner shelter and a tunnel, all in life size and true material, recovered in mines abandoned for over 20 years.
Opening hours:
March-June: 9:30am-12:30pm and 3:30pm-6:30pm
July-August: 9:30am-12:30pm and 4:30pm-7:30pm
September-October: 9:30am-12:30pm and 3:30pm-6:30pm
The museum is partially accessible to wheelchair users.
